2 /16/2024  Uganda   (Morning Star News) A formerly Muslim couple in eastern Uganda, parents of four young children, were slashed to death in early February, two months after putting their faith in Christ. Twaha Namwoyo, 38, and his wife, Nadiimu Katooko, 27, were slain for their faith outside their house. Police officers arrived and found the bodies with deep cuts, and that of Namwoyo with a swollen neck, possibly indicating strangulation. Their mutilated bodies were found outside, and the children – ages 7, 5, 3 and 2 – were locked inside the house. Police found several long Somali swords, knives and an axe at the scene, likely left as a warning to other Muslims considering conversion to Christianity. The attack was the latest of many instances of persecution of Christians in eastern Uganda.  Please pray…　 Pray Pray that the Lord will comfort the couple’s children and heal them of the emotional trauma they have experienced. Pray that the Lord will provide a loving Christian home for the children. Pray that the police will diligently investigate the attack and be able to find the attackers.

1 /4/2024  Uganda   (Morning Star News) Islamic extremists killed a 75-year-old woman and her two grandchildren (5 and 13 years old) in western Uganda on Christmas Day. Edrine Ngwabize and her two grandchildren were killed by Muslim extremists who broke into their home shouting “We have to teach these infidels a lesson during this Christmas celebration.” The police rushed to the house, and shot the dead the leader of the assailants as he was fleeing. In the same district a week earlier, rebels from the Democratic Allied Forces (ADF) killed 10 Christians. These killings are the latest of many instances of persecution of Christians in Uganda. Uganda’s constitution guarantees religious freedom, including the right to evangelize and change your religion. Despite making up no more than 12 percent of Uganda’s population, murders of Christians by Muslims are increasing.  Please pray… Pray that the Lord will comfort Edrine’s children as they mourn her death and the death of their children, and the families of the 10 Christians killed a week earlier. 10/20/2023  Uganda   (Morning Star News) The killers of three people this week in western Uganda accused them of supporting Christian work. In western Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth National Park, an Ugandan Christian tour guide, Eric Alyai, and a foreign married couple were shot to death by suspected Islamic terrorists of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF). Alyai, 40, British tourist David Barlow, and his South African wife Celia were killed after the Muslim extremists accused them of coming as and supporting Christians in Uganda. They shot them and burnt the vehicle. Alyai was known to take tourists to churches and Christian-owned hotels in the area, which helped generate income for the local church. Alyai is survived by his wife, Ruth Mutamba, and their young child. The ADF is considered one of the most dangerous of more than 120 armed groups in the region.  Please pray… Pray that the Lord will comfort Ruth and her child, and David and Celia’s family members. 4/21/2023  Uganda   (Morning Star News) Muslim extremists have killed another Christian who was effective in leading Muslims to Christ in eastern Uganda. Engineer Herbert was stabbed to death on April 8 while on his way home from work in the town where he had established a business that supported his evangelization of Muslims. He was 42. His acts of supporting and helping preachers were seen in Muslim circles as misleading many Muslims who left Islam and joined Christianity, especially young men and women. A witness to the attack notified the police who found Herbert’s body the next morning. The police are investigating the attack.  Please pray… Pray that the Lord will comfort Herbert’s family and church members. Pray that the police will sincerely and effectively conduct their investigation and arrest those who killed Herbert. Pray that the Christians in Uganda will not live in fear but will have the Lord’s peace.

3/28/2023  Uganda   (Morning Star News) Muslim relatives of a pastor in eastern Uganda took him from his home and killed him for his faith this month. Pastor Adinani Bulwa had fled Muslim opposition in northern Uganda and returned to his home village in January before he was killed on March 10. He was 42. His wife reported that they began to share the gospel with other family members, and four trusted in Christ in February. They were warned to stop evangelizing, and two weeks later the pastor was pressured to recant his faith at a meeting of the extended family. He refused to do so, stating he was ready to die for Christ. In March, several Muslim relatives appeared at his home, took him, tortured him and then killed him. He leaves behind his wife, Zabiina, and five children, aged 4 to 16.  Please pray… Pray for the Lord’s comfort for Pastor Bulwa’s wife and children. Pray for the Lord to protect the family from Pastor Bulwa’s relatives, and that He will provide for their needs. 1/11/2023  Uganda   (Morning Star News) A 37-year-old father of four was killed on Jan. 2 after participating in a Christian-Muslim debate in eastern Uganda at which 13 Muslims put their faith in Christ. Ahamada Mafabi was returning from the debate when men on two motorcycles shouting the jihadist slogan, “Allah Akbar [God is greater],” knocked him off his motorcycle and sliced his neck with a knife. Mafabi is survived by his wife and four children, ages 3 to 14 years old, all of whom need to be relocated. Mafabi put his faith in Christ in December 2020. Knowledgeable in both Islam and Christianity, Mafabi helped his pastor begin Christian-Muslim debates in mid-2021, and in one year more than 100 Muslims put.  Please pray… Pray for the Lord to comfort Mafabi’s wife and children at this sad and difficult time. Pray for Mafabi’s wife and children, who need financial support for food, shelter and school fees. Pray that the Lord will protect Mafabi’s pastor and his ministry’s newly-built center for converts from Islam, where they are discipled and trained in job skills to make up for losing employment because of their faith.

10/7/2022   Uganda   (Morning Star News) On Sept. 24, two evangelists were attacked after taking part in debates on Islam and Christianity in eastern Uganda for 5 days. Andrew Dikusooka, 35, and 26-year-old Ronald Musasizi debated Islamic scholars, and after the last day of the debate, well-known Muslims were among those who put their faith in Christ, along with witchdoctors and street vendors. The evangelists were halfway home when a group of Muslims blocked them near a railroad crossing and began beating them. Two men also used knives, and the evangelists were cut deeply on the head, belly and hands. They know the assailants because they had debated them on several occasions. Andrew and Ronald were taken to a nearby hospital. They plan to bring charges against the attackers. The attack was the latest of many instances of persecution of Christians in Uganda.  Please pray… Pray that the Lord will heal Andrew and Ronald completely and strengthen them. Pray that they will continue to be bold witnesses for Jesus, but will also be wise in how they deal with those who oppose them. Pray that these attacks against Christians will not discourage the believers in the region.

6/14/2022   Uganda   (Morning Star News) A woman in central Uganda, who accepted Christ on May 29, was killed later that day by her father for leaving Islam. After having several dreams about Christ, 28-year-old Hawa Amoti visited a Christian neighbor on May 29, said the neighbor. “Amoti came to our home very early in the morning and needed to know more of Issa [Jesus], whom she had seen in a dream,” he said. “After explaining to her about eternal life and forgiveness of sin that comes from Jesus who came to take away the sins of the whole world, she willingly accepted Jesus for the salvation of her soul.” They then went to church together. When she arrived home, her father and brothers, who had learned that she had been seen worshipping in the church, were waiting for her. Her father ordered his sons to seize and beat her (one refused), and then took a sharp knife and pierced her eyes. Amoti’s screaming drew neighbors who rushed over to rescue her, but she died soon after.  Please pray… Pray for Amoti’s brother to have the courage to seek Jesus and that he will trust in Jesus. 4/2/2022   Uganda   (Morning Star News) A former sheikh in eastern Uganda was poisoned on April 2, shortly after his wife learned he had converted to Christianity. Hiire Sadiki, 56, trusted in Christ on March 27 after several months of discussions with a Christian pastor. When his wife learned that he had become a Christian, she left the room and began phoning Muslim leaders, he said. She then returned and started preparing supper. Initially Sadiki was diagnosed with food poisoning, but further tests indicated his food was contained a toxic substance used to kill rats. His wife, who believes her husband deserves to die for leaving Islam, has left him and gone back to her family along with the couple’s three children, ages 16, 10 and 6.  Please pray… Pray that the Lord will completely heal Hiire and help him to regain his strength. Pray that he will know the Lord’s will now that he is alone and on his own. Pray that the Lord will protect him, and touch his wife and children’s hearts, drawing them to Jesus.

3/22/2022   Uganda   (Morning Star News) Upset over conversions to Christianity, hardline Muslims in an area of eastern Uganda this month sprayed a newly Christian family with acid. Muslim relatives recently sprayed acid on Juma, 38, his 32-year-old wife Nasimu, and their 13-year-old daughter, Amina after they put their faith in Christ in February. When they refused to recant their faith in Jesus when pressured by relatives, they started beating them with sticks as prescribed in the Koran, and Nasimu’s father picked up a bottle of acid and began spraying it on them while the group started shouting, “Allahu Akbar, you deserve death.” They were then disowned by their family. On March 9, while the three were receiving hospital treatment, their house was burned down. They are still undergoing hospital treatment.  Please pray… Pray that the Lord will heal Juma, Nasimu and Amina physically and also heal them through the trauma of this terrible attack. Pray that the Lord will provide the finances they need for their medical treatment. Pray that the Lord will provide a safe place for them to live after they get out of the hospital.
