2/1/2024　Nepal　(VOM) When Manju’s husband became a follower of Christ, Manju and their children were very opposed to his faith and berated him to abandon it. But in May 2023, a pastor asked her to watch a film about Jesus. He installed a memory card with several videos on her phone. The family began to watch these films, calling the pastor to explain parts they did not understand. Manju invited the pastor to her house one day. While he was there, 14-year-old Sharda was watching one of the videos by herself when she experienced a demonic attack. When the pastor prayed for her, the attack ended. These attacks happened several more times, and each ended only when the pastor prayed. Sharda is now completely healed. Manju and her children placed their trust in Christ after witnessing God’s power in Sharda’s healing. Seven other relatives have also placed their trust in Christ since then.   Let’s pray… Praise the Lord for Manju’s husband’s faithful witness and for the salvation of Manju and her children, and for delivering Sharda from demonic oppression. 11/23/2023　Nepal　(VOM) Five years ago, Bindu and her three children put their faith in Christ, becoming the first Christians in their village. Bindu’s husband, Hari, is strongly Hindu and actively tried to stop them from going to church. On Christmas day 2021, while Bindu and the children were preparing to attend a Christmas celebration, he began to beat them, knocking one of his daughters unconscious and chasing them out of the home. Bindu and her daughters decided to return home, and the persecution and abuse continued. Hari tried many times to open a case for divorce and finally left the village. For the last year, Hari has been out of contact and has not supported his family. Bindu and her daughters are active members of the church and share their faith boldly, even though they do not have financial support and still face persecution.   Let’s pray… Pray that the Lord will provide for the material needs of Bindu and her children. Pray that Bindu and her daughters will boldly share the gospel, and that many in the village will repent and trust in Christ. Pray that Bindi’s husband, Hari, will be saved.

9/14/2023　Nepal　(VOM) Shiva and Kamleshor are leaders of a group of 20 Christians who have been meeting for fellowship in a Maithili-speaking region of Nepal. On June 24, a group of more than 40 Hindu radicals surrounded the home where they were meeting to threaten and mock them, live-streaming their abusive actions on social media for three hours. These brothers were discouraged but thankful for the body of Christ remembering them in prayer. Missionaries recently distributed audio Bibles in the Maithili language to these believers, which was a great encouragement to the church members because most of whom cannot read. The church continues to meet regularly despite the threats.   Let’s pray… Pray that Shiva and Kamleshor will be able to continue their ministry to these 20 Maithili Christians. Pray that more will come to know Christ as these believers share the audio Bibles with others. Pray that those who attacked Shiva and Kamleshor will come to faith in Christ.

4/6/2023　Nepal　(VOM) Deepa and her husband, Surya, were overwhelmed with fear when witch doctors predicted an early, unnatural death for Surya. When Deepa confessed her fear to her brother, a Christian, he shared the gospel and led Deepa and Surya to Christ. Deepa and Surya shared a house with Surya’s parents and grandparents, who are devout Hindus. Their family pressured them to return to Hindu worship, and they recruited other villagers to increase pressure. Verbal attacks soon turned into physical attacks, and Deepa and Surya were eventually kicked out of her home by her family. Members of their local church responded by building a simple cottage for them nearby. The family survives by selling milk from one cow, and Surya has gone abroad to try to earn money. Deepa remains an active member of the church while caring for her 5-year-old son, Shreya.   Let’s pray… Pray that Surya will be able to find work to support his family and eventually be able to return and make a living in Nepal. 3/2/2023　Nepal　(VOM) Goma Kunwar was very sick, but medical doctors and witch doctors alike were baffled and could not heal her. Christians in her village prayed for her, and God healed her. Her husband tried to dissuade her from going to church, but she wanted to attend out of gratitude for her healing. In spring 2022, she accepted Christ and was baptized. Goma’s husband began to treat her cruelly, physically and verbally abusing her and destroying the Bibles she was given in church. One day he beat her badly with a stick and then poured gasoline over her body, intending to burn her. She managed to escape before he lit the fire. Later, when Goma refused to wear a Hindu symbol for a festival, her husband tried to attack her with a sickle. Again, she ran to safety. Now, he is barring her attendance at church, keeping her from meeting Christians and monitoring all her communications.   Let’s pray… Pray that the Lord will protect Toma and that her husband will stop being violent toward her. 2/2/2023　Nepal　(VOM) Anu Dani earned money by predicting people’s future as a seer. When her young daughter grew very ill and no other efforts healed her, Anu took her to a Christian church. The pastor prayed for her daughter and she was healed. As a result, Anu immediately put her faith in Christ, turning away from her occult practices. Anu’s husband, Prakash, suffered from mental illness and tried to kill the pastor when he found out what happened, but he was eventually healed by prayer and became a Christian. When Prakash’s family found out about their conversion, the couple were forced out of the family home. The young family stayed temporarily in the church building, but they want to build a small home where they can continue to follow Jesus. Anu and Prakash were both baptized in August.   Let’s pray… Praise the Lord for His miraculous work in healing Anu’s daughter and husband, and for their decision to follow Jesus despite the persecution. 1/5/2023　Nepal　(VOM) Bimala Thokar came to faith in Christ in 2021 through the witness of her daughter. The Buddhist people of their Nepalese village disapproved of Bimala and her family becoming Christians and sharing the gospel with others. Local Buddhist monks called the police to accuse Bimala of “evil practices” and illegally spreading the Christian religion. At the police station, Bimala answered the charges by explaining her Christian faith. The police officer in charge identified himself as Christian and encouraged Bimala in her faith. No charges were filed. Instead, villagers who had previously shunned Bimala and verbally abused her slowly began to accept her and ask her to pray with them. Bimala remains strong in her faith and desires that a fellowship of Christians would be started in her village.   Let’s pray… Praise God for the faithful witness of Bimala Thokar and for the Christian police officer. Pray that Bimala will be led by the Lord to the people whose hearts He has prepared to hear and believe the gospel, and that a church can be started in her village. Pray that the Lord will answer the prayers Bimala is being asked to pray.

9/22/2022　Nepal　(VOM) Amar Mandal had been the only Christian in his village in Nepal. Even though his family opposes him and he faces rejection by the community, he is faithful and bold in his witness. “If I don’t share the gospel with my villagers, I will be always alone,” he said. “I am continuously sharing the gospel with other villagers so that when people come to know Lord Jesus, I will have Christian fellowship.” His prayers have been answered: Four people in his village have come to faith this year through his witness! Amar asks for prayer that these new believers will be strengthened and will mature in their faith through listening to the audio Bibles they receive so that they will be bold witnesses in the community. He also requests prayer for his wife, who is struggling under spiritual oppression and attack.   Let’s pray… Pray that the Lord will strengthen these new believers and help them to grow in their faith as they learn the Bible. Pray that the new believers will be bold witnesses in their community. Pray that the Lord Jesus will deliver Amar’s wife from the spiritual oppression and attacks she is experiencing.

6/16/2022　Nepal　(VOM) While living with her high-caste Hindu aunt and cousin, seventeen-year-old Shanti, a Christian, developed a passion for leading others into a deeper walk with Christ. She led youth groups and women’s groups and regularly visited believers at their homes. During these visits, she spent time with Dalit believers, who are from the lowest Hindu caste. After her cousin, a respected teacher in the village, learned of her visits to the “untouchables” in late 2021, he repeatedly beat her and eventually forced her out of the home. Shanti’s aunt never defended her. Since then, Shanti’s pastor has let her live at the church.   Let’s pray… Pray that Shanti continues to grow in her faith and that she will be able to continue leading her small groups. Pray that Shanti will be able to find affordable housing in a good location for her ministry. Pray that Shanti’s cousin and aunt repent for how they treated her and come to know Christ.

5/26/2022　Nepal　(VOM) After putting her trust in Jesus, Sumi received a New Testament. Her younger brother noticed it and told their Hindu father, who shouted at Sumi and threatened her with a knife. He told her to leave her Christian faith or leave his house. When Sumi did leave, her father burned her clothes, Bible and other Christian literature he found. Sumi’s pastor let her stay at the church for 15 days before she returned home. Eventually, her father and other villagers emotionally abused her for leaving Hinduism. The persecution kept Sumi from completing high school, so she has struggled to find a good job. Today, 21-year-old Sumi works odd jobs in Kathmandu and attends church in a nearby city.   Let’s pray… Pray that Sumi is able to form strong relationships with other believers in her church. Pray that she is able to make peace with her father and other family members. Pray that the Lord will provide her with better work and a Christian husband.
