160 People Massacred in Nigeria During Christmas Season

12/26/2023 Nigeria (Christian Daily) Terrorists massacred 160 people, many of them preparing for church Christmas programs, Saturday night (Dec. 23) through Monday (Dec. 25) in coordinated attacks on predominantly Christian areas in Plateau state, Nigeria. Church pastors were killed and hundreds of houses were destroyed in the massacres. Most of the Christians killed were women, children and the elderly who were unable to escape. More than 300 wounded people were rushed to hospitals. Plateau Gov. Caleb Mutfwang has vowed to strengthen security agencies in response to the attacks. Militants from the Fulani, Boko Haram, Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and others regularly attack Christian communities, killing, maiming, raping and kidnapping for ransom or sexual slavery. Nigeria’s government continues to deny this is religious persecution, so violations of Christians’ rights are carried out with impunity.   Please pray … Pray that the Lord will comfort those who have lost loved ones, homes and churches, and that He will heal them of the trauma they have experienced. Pray that the Lord will heal those who were injured, both physically and emotionally. Pray that the government will begin to make sincere efforts to protect its Christian citizens.

Her family went into hiding and her husband sold all his belongings to finance his wife’s defense. Judges have repeatedly refused to grant to grant her bail, fearing Islamic rioting. Her trial date is November 27.   Please pray … Pray that the Lord will comfort and encourage Rhoda and her family at this difficult time. West Africa 1,800 Terrorist Attacks in the First Six Months of 2023

7/26/2023 West Africa (ICC) In the first six months of 2023, West Africa recorded more than 1,800 terrorist attacks, with up to 4,600 deaths. The astonishing figures were reported to the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday. The violence has forced 6.2 million people to flee their homes as internally displaced people (IDP) and made 30 million in need of humanitarian assistance. Between January and June 30 (2,725 attacks in Burkina Faso, 844 in Mali, 77 in Niger and 70 in Nigeria; 4,593 were killed). The recent coup in Niger only exacerbates the situation. The spread of terrorism across West Africa represents the greater goal of Jihad throughout the African continent and furthermore throughout the entire globe. Christianity poses the greatest threat to radical extremists in the world today, which is why the enemies of Christ are especially hostile toward His followers. Please pray… Pray for the Church in Africa to unify and grow stronger as it continues to persevere, and even grow, through persecution. Pray for our brothers and sisters who are carrying the cross of martyrdom. Pray for the terrorists to trust in Christ and for the darkness of this world to be defeated by the light of Christ.

Nigeria Injured Evangelist Still Recovering from Attack

10/27/2022 Nigeria (VOM) On March 17, 2018, Rev. Adamu Ardo was on an evangelistic outreach when a group of young Muslim men broke into the house where he was staying and attacked him and a Muslim friend. The assailants beat Amadu with clubs and machetes. They also beat his friend because he was associating with a Christian. The friend was not severely injured and rushed Adamu to a hospital. After several months and numerous surgeries, Amadu remarkably survived, but he lost the use of his right hand and developed a speech impediment. His Muslim friend was shocked by how his Islamic brothers had treated his friend and said, “If that’s the way they act, then I don’t want to be a Muslim anymore.” Rev. Adamu has been unable to work since the attack to support his wife and five children.   Please pray … Pray that the Lord will comfort Rev. Ardo and heal him, especially his speech impediment. Pray that Rev. Aldo’s Muslim friend will not just leave Islam but will seek to know more about Jesus and become a Christian. Pray that the Lord will provide for the material needs of Rev. Aldo’s family.

In July, two priests were kidnapped in the northern state of Kaduna, and dozens of Christians have been murdered or kidnapped in recent months. The Nigerian government continues to do nothing to protect its Christian citizens, and just recently arrested a Christian human rights reporter after he wrote an article criticizing the government for its inaction.   Please pray…  Pray for the safe return of the nuns who were abducted as well as for protection of church leaders in Nigeria.
