Sudan Forcefully Returns More Than 100 Refugees to Eritrea

9/17/17  Sudan  (AfricaNews)   According to the UNHCR, more than 100 Eritrean refugees have been deported by the Sudanese government throughout the past few weeks. Eritrea, which is commonly referred to as the North Korea of Africa, is ruled by a hostile regime that will undoubtedly issue severe punishment to the refugees who are sent back to their homeland. This move by Sudan is widely being seen as a violation of international refugee laws because those who are being deported will find themselves in serious danger. Let’s pray… Pray for the protection of the many refugees who will be returning to Eritrea.  Pray that these refugees will be able to find a safe place to live. Pray for the Sudanese government to more openly accept refugees from hostile regions.

Sudanese Refugees Forced to Recite Islamic Prayer to Receive Food

9/6/17  Sudan  (ICN)   Although “forced conversion” is not legal in many areas of the world, it often does not protect Christians as is the case in Sudan. Those who do not adhere to Sunni Islam are often treated poorly, denied work, refused basic aid, and churches have even been torn down. Now, Christian children in Sudan’s refugee camps are not receiving food unless they say Islamic prayers. There are an estimated 700,000 Christian refugees in Sudan, and many live in camps that do not allow them leave. Let’s pray… Pray that those in refugee camps would have their basic needs met. Pray for opportunities for refugees to leave these camps and build new homes. Pray that those working in the refugee camps would have compassion on all who live there.

Sudanese Government Delays Destruction of 27 Churches on Appeal

3/1/2017   Sudan  (All Africa) The Sudanese government said it would demolish 27 churches, but this action has been delayed because of a legal appeal. Sudan refuses building permits to Christians who want to build churches, which forces Christians to hold prayer services in houses, unmarked with no Christian symbols like crosses. Hopefully the demolition of 27 churches will not just be stalled, but revoked completely. Please pray… Praise God for the delay of the demolition of the 27 churches in Sudan. Pray that God will continue to block the demolition of the churches and that the demolition will be revoked completely.  Pray for Christians in Sudan who are being forced out of their buildings of worship; pray that they will be able to continue to worship Christ no matter where they meet.

Sudan Frees Czech National After Over a Year in Prison

2/27/2017  Sudan  (Morning Star News) Czech citizen Petr Jasek was released and returned to the Czech Republic after being jailed since December 2015. Two other Sudanese nationals, Pastor Abduraheem (right) and Mr. Abdumawla (left, remain in prison under numerous false charges stemming from Jasek’s actions to aid Christians in the country. Petr Jasek and the other men were originally charged after Jasek provided a donation for medical aid to a Sudanese Christian who was injured during a demonstration. The government falsely accused them of espionage and inciting hatred. Such persecution is very common in Sudan. The imprisonment of these men is the latest in a long history of imprisonment of Christians in Sudan. With the recent release of Petr Jasek, International Christian Concern is hopeful that the release of Pastor Abduraheem (right) and Mr. Abdumawla (left) will be imminent. Let’s pray… Pray that the Lord will move in the hearts of the responsible authorities to acknowledge that there is no evidence of espionage, etc. against Pastor Abduraheem and Mr. Abdumawla, and that they will be released soon. Pray that these pastors will be encouraged by the Lord in prison and that they will have a bright witness to their captors and fellow prisoners.
