Livestock Slaughtered After Laotian Christian Remains Faithful

In 2019, 80 people in 13 Christian families lived in Jai’s village in Laos. As one of the village leaders, Jai knew that these Christians were facing persecution from village authorities and the police. But Jai’s parents were Christians, and they urged him to consider Christianity. He contacted a pastor, who led him to faith in Christ. Soon, Jai was removed from his role leading the village, and persecution throughout the village increased. Children under 18 were no longer allowed to attend church. The police threatened to destroy Jai’s animals, but he stood firm in his faith. In January 2023, authorities slaughtered all his animals: 4 pigs, 16 ducks and 20 chickens.
