Turkish Congregation Seeks Approval to Establish a Place of Worship

9/7/2023 Turkey (VOM)

Christians in eastern Turkiye (Turkey) are often isolated with limited opportunities to fellowship openly with other followers of Christ. But a small Protestant church in eastern Turkiye, in an area close to the Syrian border populated mainly by Kurds and some Syrians and Iranians, has developed a good relationship with a long-standing Orthodox Church. Its leaders are willing to allow the young church to repurpose one of their dilapidated buildings, but doing so will require the approval of local officials. There is remodeling that needs to be done, and the church will need formal approval from the local government to use the building as a church. If approved, the renovated facility will be used for Bible studies and worship services.

Please pray…

  • Praise the Lord for the willingness of the Orthodox Church to allow the Protestant church to use one of its buildings.
  • Pray that the government will grant the necessary approval to renovate the building and use it as a church.
  • Pray that the church will have a bright and attractive witness in the area and that many Muslims and Kurds will come to Christ.
