Uganda Christian Slain after Helping to Lead 18 Muslims to Christ

A local group of Muslim extremists on Oct. 30 killed an evangelist in eastern Uganda after he and another Christian refused to convert to Islam. After three days of a scheduled six-day evangelistic event at which 18 Muslims put their faith in Christ, area Islamists attacked Emmanuel Dikusooka, a 29-year-old father of three children, and a fellow church member, Jack Mbulante as they returned to their hotel. Wearing traditional Islamic dress of tunics and capes and armed with long Somali swords (pangas), sticks and iron bars, the six Muslim assailants tried to force the two men to renounce Jesus Christ and embrace the Islamic faith. When they refused, they struck Dikusooka, in anger with an iron bar on the head, and attacked him with swords. Mbulante was able to escape and bring some Christians to help Dikusooka, but by the time they arrived he was dead. The police are searching for the killers, some of whom are known by the new converts, who now fear for their lives.

Please pray…

  • Pray for the Lord’s comfort and peace for Dikusooka’s wife and children as they mourn his death.

  • Pray that the Lord will provide for all of their needs, and that the new converts will remain firm in their faith.

  • Pray that the police will be able to arrest the assailants and bring them to justice.
