Sudan Christian Mother Firm in Her Faith Despite Attack by Husband

Updated: Dec 21, 2024

A Sudanese refugee in South Sudan who was attacked with a knife by her Muslim husband four months ago for converting to Christianity faces daily pressure to renounce her faith. Halima Mohammed Ali, a mother of five children ranging in age from 1 to 14, has remained with her family at a refugee settlement. She had left her home after being stabbed in her head in September but returned after one month. Halima put her faith in Christ in June and attended discipleship classes at a church in the refugee camp, but after she began attending worship services a few months later, her husband stabbed her on the right side of her head. Her husband’s Muslim relatives have pressured him to drive her away. She has refused to renounce her faith and continues attending church services. She asks for prayers to remain firm in her faith. Christians in Sudan are being targeted by both the Muslims and the Sudanese military.

Please pray…

  • Pray that the Lord will encourage Halima daily as she resists her husband’s pressure to give up her faith.

  • Pray that her children will see her faith, and put their faith in Jesus, too.

  • Pray that the Holy Spirit will touch her husband’s heart, and draw him to saving faith in Jesus Christ.
