A Muslim businessman in Pakistan has falsely charged a 15-year-old Christian girl and two of her relatives with theft in retaliation for leaving his employ following his attempt to rape her. Javed Masih, a Catholic vegetable seller, said that his daughter, Muskaan Javed, worked as a maid in the house of Muhammad Kamran Haider. Haider attacked Muskaan when his wife and children were not at home, but Muskaan escaped when her mother arrived at Haider’s home. Masih said he and local elders went to Haider’s house, and that the Muslim admitted the attempted rape and apologized. Following Haider's apology, the elders pressured Masih to pardon him. Haider later registered a case with police alleging that Muskaan had stolen gold jewelry from his house during her employment. He also falsely accused Masih and his son, saying they had confessed to Muskaan’s crime and promised to repay the money. The police failed to take any action against Haider until a Christian lawmaker contacted a senior police officer, who is now investigating the case..
Please pray…
Pray that the Lord will comfort Muskaan and heal her of the emotional trauma caused by the attack and subsequent false charges against her and her family.
Pray that the senior police officer will conduct a fair and impartial investigation and that Haider will be held responsible for his crimes.
Pray that the charges against Muskaan, her father and brother will be dropped.
