A court in Pakistan on Jan. 25 acquitted Christian twin brothers of a false blasphemy. The judge ordered that 18-year-olds Sahil and Raheem Shahid be released from prison after their defense team proved they had been falsely charged and that police had failed to properly investigate. During the cross-examination of eight witnesses, including the investigating officer and the complainant, the judge asked if any of them could identify which verses from the Koran had allegedly been desecrated by the brothers. Neither the investigating officer nor any other witness was able to answer the question, so the judge ordered the release of the twins and issued a notice to district police officials to start an inquiry against the investigating officer for conducting a weak investigation. The twins have been reunited with their family. The defense team also informed the court that the brothers had been falsely charged with the aim of instilling fear in Christians and forcing them to leave the village.
Please pray…
Praise the Lord for this court victory and for the conscientious judge who ruled correctly and ethically in this court case. There are very few conscientious judges when it comes to blasphemy cases.
Pray that there will be retribution by radical Muslims against the brothers and their family as a result of the judge’s ruling.
Pray that they will be able to find work to help support their family despite the false blasphemy accusations.
